There are several Hebrew words for shoulder, each with various meanings. In Isaiah 9, the Hebrew word for shoulder denotes the part of the body on which heavy loads are carried. It is the part of the body figuratively that bears responsibility and power. The government was not placed in His Head but upon His shoulders. It is His shoulders that bear the weight and power. The Government of God is enforced through His Officers in the earth. Jesus taught His disciples to pray for the establishment of Gods Kingdom in earth as it in heaven. They were praying for themselves and all those who would follow, those called to enforce the reign, rule and culture of God's Kingdom by displacing the systems of the kingdom of darkness through the power of the Holy Spirit until the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he shall reign for ever and ever.

"For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace. Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this." -Isaiah 9:6-7

The words that stand out in this particular scripture are "His shoulder." I have heard several messages based off of this verse in Isaiah. Unfortunately, a majority of these messages concluded that we are not to be too concerned with "His government" because it is on "His shoulder."

Apostle Richard then posed the question: "Is the shoulder not a member of the body? Are we, the Church, not His Body?" We are carrying His government! This is why we must pray for an increased capacity. We must be able to carry and retain all that God has in store for the Body of Christ. His government (laws, precepts, officers and their authority) shall be upon His shoulder.
